Phytotherapy and the immune system

Every day, without even realising it, we come into contact with an army of pathogens such as viruses and bacteria that threaten our health!

Our immune system responds promptly to the threats of this invisible army, with cells that are always on the alert and, like alert sentinels, identify the enemies of our health, attacking them and neutralising them promptly.

Unfortunately, however, our immune system does not always work efficiently, and this can be due to several factors:

- The stress to which we are constantly subjected.

- An unhealthy diet with a reduced intake of antioxidants, vitamins and active plant ingredients

- An unbalanced intestinal microbiota

- Concomitant infections and chronic diseases

- The high frequency of contacts of those who are often in contact with many people (e.g. teachers, students, office workers, those using public transport)

The sneeze of a passer-by is enough to make us ill.

Winter is the season when flu-like illnesses and typical ailments such as coughs, colds and sore throats are common. In children, the frequency of episodes of illness is much higher because their immune defences are being built up and strengthened and because our children live in community environments such as schools or nurseries where they are at greater risk of encountering infectious agents in the airways.

To contrast and prevent seasonal illnesses in adults and children, there are a number of natural remedies that can be used, plants that contain active ingredients to support the body's natural defences and the functionality of the respiratory tract.

Here are some plants that can help:

Cistus, for example, promotes the functioning of the respiratory tract, Elder encourages the fluidity of bronchial secretions and the functioning of the upper respiratory tract, and Willow helps to counteract localised states of tension.

In addition, to support the functions of our immune system, supplementation with vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin B12, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Copper, Zinc, which support the activity of the cells of the immune system, and Vitamin D, which coordinates their activity and promotes their development, can be useful.

Mediplant Influcis Forte line exploits the beneficial properties of Cistus, Elderberry and Willow in combination with Vitamins C, D, B6, B12 and Zinc and Copper to promote the correct functioning of our natural defences.
